  1. Perhaps it is just me This book received a very good review in the NYT so I went and ordered it.Let s begin with some of the character names Sunday, Kayle, Grail Really Of all the great Irish names out there the author included 3 names so unconnected to Irish roots it was laughable. The secret reason given for Sunday leaving home 5 years prior to her return was ridiculous After spending chapter after chapter reliving this great love story between her and her former fianc we find she left abruptly [...]

  2. Irish pub owners Check Cold fathers Check Loan sharking Check Telegraphed ending Check Thinly veiled misogyny Check Treacly ending with bold caps outlining the moral of the story Check Overly generous three stars Check.

  3. Ugh I wanted to really like this book It seemed very promising from early on, a tight knit family with an unspoken, dark secret The dark secret didn t turn out to be that dark, and in essence, I felt that the author copped out on this part In the end, the main character s reason for leaving, this secret really did not add up given how close she was to her boyfriend and family The story fell short for me and dragged at the end I couldn t wait for the book to end, because I knew there was going to [...]

  4. It was just okay , not bad but not OMG, I have to recommend this read I think if the author added sizzle, emotions, passion and heat between the characters and their relationships it would have made this book much better.I did like the way the author gave so many of the characters a turn of their own point of views.I really liked the characters, there was definitely potential but the characters felt dulled down to me unfortunately at times do to the writing.I think going forward that this author [...]

  5. Five stars this book was amazing I loved it from start to finish did not want it to end all the Brennans were so lovable

  6. Whenever an author tackles a family themed story it is usually about an Irish, Italian or Jewish family Invariably the family is very close , frequently conflicted but totally loyal to each other Every conflict gets resolved and the family stays strong and intact I wonder why it took Tracey Lange so long to tell this universal tale Ms Lange writes good character studies but is repetitive in describing them to the extent that they cease to be interesting There is potential in her writing but not [...]
