  1. The title of the book refers to how many grapes are needed to produce one bottle of wine Georgia Ford is an attorney, the daughter of an accomplished winemaker and his wife who own a 50 acre plot in Sonoma County s wine country.Georgia is engaged to Ben, a good looking British man who had an affair with a famous British actress who bore his child, now five years old Georgia finds out about this when she sees the three of them sauntering down the street as she s getting fitted for her wedding gow [...]

  2. Spoiler Alert I love wine and the wine industry, so I was really wanting to love this book, but it just read like a bad lifetime movie SO much dramathe main character s fiance has a surprise kid with a movie star, her sister in law is trying to have an affair with her other brother, her mom is having an affair with another man, her dad who in my opinion is the only likable character is selling the family winery to a big bad corporate winery that everyone hatesjust stop already But beyond that, m [...]

  3. Loved this book I do enjoy wine, so when I came across the book which was depicted as a family story as well as the family vineyard I though I d take a chance Had never read this author previously It was so engaging for me I truly put aside other things I might have done in my life to read this book in four days including some airplane travel. The author s descriptions were excellent, and the way the story wove between the past and the present was clever. Some books that do that are confusing the [...]

  4. I wanted to like this book, but it was seriously lacking The beginning was really slow and boring, to the point that I almost stopped reading it The author spent too much time writing about the technical aspect of wine making, such as the ideal soil for grapes, the ideal weather, etc instead of giving the characters any real depth The author also wrote in double negatives, as well as fragmented and run on sentences making it difficult, at times, to understand what she was trying to say Her metap [...]

  5. This book was so good I love her voice It was like sitting down with an old friend who is a very good story teller and listening for hours Obviously, that part was in my head, because I was reading it The author has a way of weaving her word around you, making you feel everything she wants you to I found myself stopping to think about my own life several times I highly recommend Eight Hundred Grapes.

  6. Escapist summer reading I prefer my lighthearted summer tales to have at least a few likeable characters The writing itself is pretty good, but the characters are flat or just plain annoying The main character of Georgia is thoroughly unlikeable and completely self absorbed Unlike some people who reviewed the book, I enjoyed the look into California wine culture It is the one redeeming quality in the entire book I had to skim the last third because I just couldn t take Georgia s irrational behav [...]

  7. Not a proper review as bought the kindle edition there are quite a few blank pages At first I thought it was a chapter break since the story was easy to pick up, however the second time it happened it was obvious that tge page was missing, such a shame as spoilt the reading of a good story
