  3. I hung on every word of this fascinating, meandering tale of travel and romance It made me think that everyone should have an adventure like this, at least once to just take off and see where life takes you Westmacott shares her story with appealing candor and like a true heroine, she is irresistible.

  4. Quite a short story and didn t cover the travel experience that I wanted to read about They ended up in Brazil and that s where it ended Nicely written.

The author writes very well and amusingly, dwelling mostly on her love of cooking, the challenges of catering on a small and Spartan vessel and making do She is engagingly frank about the flaws in her own character and that of her partner later husband She prefers to write about the places they visit it in their yacht Spero than about the sailing aspects of their long voyage It s comparatively short which probably means I ll be tempted to read it again to savour the writing.

  9. I quite enjoyed this book, especially as I have done quite a lot of sailing myself It was an account of Ursula Westmacott s introduction and further adventures in sailing I was able to identify with the discomfort, grumpy skipper and the love hate relationship with all of it There was also a lot of joy and sense of achievement in fetching different ports of callonly to move on after a couple of nights I particularly enjoyed the web address at the end which showed some excellent photos of the boa [...]
