  1. Having read many of Rhys Bowen s works, both this series and Royal Spyness, I can t begin to tell you how profoundly unsatisfying this novel is Maybe it is because I am such a fan that I am writing this review at three in the morning, having just found myself dumped by a story that seems terribly incomplete I turned the page expecting to learn about the mysterious stranger, how and why she disappeared, butI was treated to a postscript of the house burned down, and they all died variety It is as i [...]

  2. All the Molly Murphy books are good Be prepared for treatment of women before the vote Writing is good but you ll need to excuse small inconsistencies between books just one per book, things like birth order, time living in the US, small details as to past otherwise a fun read Books are short though.

  3. Because of the Irish side of my family, part of which arrived in New York in the mid 1800s, I so enjoy Rhys Bowen s writing and description of what it was like during those years The rest of the Irish side got here in the 1700s, so it s been interesting to dig for novels of that time also any recommendations I ve dug through the history of my great great Grandfather Welsh Irish such books help understand his life also 16 years ago, I began building a website in his honor News stories and novels [...]

  4. That s not what this story is Molly Murphy is a true New Yorker now, having just delivered her little Liam She and he husband and his mother, not to mention her friends Sid and Gus, are all well and happy in patchin Place Then Molly spots something outside her windowwhy do I keep reading this series It supplies no intelligence, no creativity, no respect for actual history It is as false as truffle oil And yet is is amusing and comforting and the characters seem like old friends So okay, spend an [...]

  5. I marked the title of this book as disappointed because it should have been read before, City of Light, City of Darkness Otherwise the story was another excellent book by Rhys Bowen I highly recommend the Molly Murphy Series but suggest that you read them in order.

  6. Yet again Rhys Bowen has me salivating for the next full length Molly Murphy mystery Through the Window was just what I needed to get be through the gap between the last release from the Her Royal Spyness series to the release of City of Darkness and Light in March.Ms Bowen never fails to pull me completely into her story the time, the place, the smells her use of imagery is amazing I highly recommend her books to mystery lovers and to mystery novices As a librarian she is one of my GO TO author [...]

  7. Another masterpiece of Bowen Ah she is so good Unexpected turns, fine characters, no one takes his cellphone out of a pocket historically correct and no grammatical errors A sigh of enjoyment, and a sigh when finished will have to buy some of her books

  8. I would have given this 5 stars, but it is a short story and I prefer Bowen s longer books She is one of my favorite authors.

  9. Again, it s nice enough as a novella, but lacks substance and has some formatting errors The mystery is a bit convoluted yet easy enough to figure out.
