  1. Life can get boring for the 524 people who live on the atoll of Atafu, one of the three little islands that make up the nation of Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand These little islands are made of coral, so there is no soil, just pieces of broken coral, and Atafu is just 1.4 square miles in area There is no place to go, no place to escape, no mall, no movies, no dogs, and the nearest country, Samoa, is twenty eight hours by ferry away It s no wonder that the two fifteen year olds and one fourt [...]

  2. Very quick read Felt it wasn t descriptive enough I am fascinated with the sea and I at times had to visualize what these boys were seeing and experiencing Ex the color of the water, the waves and how big or small they were at times, algae floating around etc etc In other words, I could not paint a picture from this story very well Besides the boys being athletic I wasn t able to know what the looked like short hair, black hair, Samoa features, scars, etc.As for the title Should have left out He [...]

  3. A good potential story, but I didn t think it was well written It is like newspaper type reporting the author really doesn t go into much detail or specifics about this incredible survival There are many interesting issues and details that could have been investigated and written up and it would have made the written story much better Compared to other longer and better written survival stories, this one comes up well short Also, while this is a story of some kids making an impetuous stupid mist [...]

  4. This almost seemed like a rough draft instead of a finished product It was fairly interesting, though The ending was SO abrupt like the author suddenly had to go to the bathroom, or something

  5. Fairly good for a short story Have read many other adrift books that made much better reading Probably due to the fact they were written in the first person by drifters who had a complex struggle.

  6. Interesting title makes you want to read it This book quickly becomes boring and repetitive, I felt like I was in the boat with them.

  7. I admit my secret sin I love reading about people who overcome insurmountable odds to live I think Mr Finkel did a wonderful job in capturing the essence of struggle of these kids in a Kindle Single genre which I am increasingly enjoying A quick read, with enough detail of the culture and the adventure Good entertainment at a good value and it s a true life story I d be curious to get a ten year follow up on the kids I have my ideas about how things might go for them Author of

  8. More like a long magazine article than a book But still a good story well told Author definitely has writing talent.

  9. Excellent page turner Shows the brutal reality of foolish things we all did as teenagers but instead of being caught by the police after pranging your Dad s truck of course I never did that , these boys from a remote South Pacific island end up making a life threatening error of judgement Treats the subject matter in an uplifting and non judgemental way Deliberately short and punchy Skillfully avoids projecting Western adult psychobabble onto the thoughts of teenagers who are ultimately interest [...]
