  1. I m calling this one a bonus book because you get two important LAPD cases for the price of one Detective Harry Bosch is working in the Open Unsolved Unit with partner Adam Chu They are given a strange case from a 1989 murder where the recovered DNA points to a killer who was just eight years old at the time The second case is current and involves a male body that didn t survive a fall from a downtown hotel s seventh floor The victim turns out to be the son of Councilman Irvin Irving, a former L [...]

  2. The Hardy case was not one of the best but I loved how he worked Clayton s DNA The real case was chief Irving s son Quite different from the TV show and off course the book does a better job But how it all played out was fantastic.Kiz Rider, between echo park and this, she is starting to be annoying Before she was shot in Echo park she was a little pain and I definitely could not stand her in this.Detective Chu, just a sad weakling that Harry got stuck with, where is Jerry Edgar when you need hi [...]

  3. This is later, but vintage Harry Bosch Connelly carries of juggling two separate story lines deftly, as he has done before, without losing control of narrative, pacing, or characterization Along the way his characters, many of whom are survivors of earlier Bosch stories, evolve and edge their way into new personae that are logical expressions of their experiences and situations.Bosch, however, seems to change little through this story His strengths remain his strengths and his weaknesses remain [...]

  4. Another excellent Harry Bosch story In this one Harry has been granted a 4 year extension to his retirement contract He is given two cases, one a cold case file since he is assigned to the Cold Case Division and is also assigned to the suicide or is it of the son of his former ex deputy police chief now a city councilman Irvin Irving Bad blood runs between these to men So in the book you are always wondering why the councilman has requested Harry be on this case And the other case is the discove [...]

  5. I thought this book is different to the previous ones This book finds Bosch questioning his faith in his ability, and somehow his mission The people he could trust and to whom his loyalty was unquestionable turned out different. It is still a great book It shows that in life, at some point when you think all is right, particularly one s purpose and mission, it is ok to be tested and be doubtful Once we turned back from this situation and continue our mission, we will be stronger and better than e [...]

  6. The lead character holds all the action and skill Everyone else supports marvelously and timely Gruesome details are tactfully hidden and respectfully presented Some sequences seem to call into p ace too easily to be real, but again the reader buys it and goes along because it could possiblr happen.Suspensful, slight romanceful Very coo language, and a page turner A MUST READ for action lovers.

  7. I would give it a 3.5, because I didn t receive any unknown or useful information The two Harry s are similar in being involved in important cases that need to be solved for the victim s sakes, but are used by politicians to their own advantages H Bosch calls the political game , high jingos. The author seems to fully understand the internal workings of a wheel house I enjoyed insight into how the police dept so skillfully handled media leaks A microcosm of how Washington operates.I enjoy most my [...]

  8. I have read all the Harry Bosch series, mostly in order, and all have been consistently good This is no exception Bosch is now reaching the end of his time as a detective but his skills are still there Again Connelly uses two separate story lines merging together testing Bosch to the limit with not just a cold case but a possible suicide with some high political stakes There s not much action but plenty of good detective work in this novel, mans it s refreshing to see Bosch is no super cop He get [...]

  9. Harry Bosch is back, still on his mission and enforcing his credo of everyone counts or nobody counts Working out of the LAPD s Open Unsolved unit with his new partner David Chu from book 15 Nine Dragons , Harry is tasked with two cases, a cold case from 1989 involving the rape murder of a young college coed and the recent death of Councilman Irving s son in an apparent suicide Despite Irving s bitter history with Bosch, he believe s that only Harry and his credo can give the true answers to his [...]
