  1. I enjoyed the book as I like the west, especially Wyoming, hunting and a good police or in this case, a Game Warden story Not a 5 star novel but an interesting story and likeable characters A couple of obvious errors I noticed that he should not have made Winchester never made an AR15 rifle And, there is no such caliber as a.308 Magnum If he meant a.308 Norma Magnum, he should have named it correctly To many people, those not familiar with firearms, these errors would not be noticed It just sort [...]

  2. I m reading this series in order and have been happy to see the protaganist become assertive However, he is using his newfound courage in ways that seem over the top for the situation As other reviews have pointed out, his reaction to a fisherman catching than his limit was than it needed to be But as he becomes assertive, it seems the author is becoming much brutal, with violence that is sickening than maddening I really didn t need to read about a domesticated horse being shot with a bow and a [...]

  3. In this book, Joe Pickett decides to check out some strange happenings in the Sierra Mountains area near Baggs, WY before moving on to his new assignment He runs into twins who are living off the land and just want to be left alone by government employees Things get ugly really quick But, Joe survives and as usual, the issue is a lot complex than it seems Over time, Joe figures this out with the help of Nate and decides to return at the request of the Governor and the parents of a missing young [...]

  4. Joe Pickett, the Game Warden did one final task on the job he had for the last year There were outlaw twins in the mountains scaring people When he went to investigate, he is hurt ending up in the hospital It is a case where the government seized their property in another state to give to a corporation that would bring in a lot of taxes Three of their family werekilled and they found this place hoping to be left alone So I m not sharing , since that may ruin it for you The writing is good The ch [...]

  5. The Joe Pickett saga continues with a really fine effort from a great story teller.Nowhere to Run has longer scenes than most of the other books in the series With some interludes, a couple of long range wilderness patrols by Wyoming s most famous game warden cover many of the pages of the novel Interesting characters abound and the wild men who become the target of Pickett s searches are fascinating characters As usual, Box returns to one of his frequent themes this time governmental over reach [...]

  6. The author is in tune to than just a great plot in this book as well the others I ve read so far This story line deals with government overreach, politics, and corruption It deals with current questions we all have been asking ourselves on civil disobedience All this woven into a storyline that finds our favorite characters dealing with life and family like the rest of us in the rural west Loved this book It is thought provoking and very well written Highly recommended

  7. Just when you think C J Box can t top his last thriller, he comes in with an edge of the seat suspense filled story A missing female Olympic class runner, all kinds of vandalism to vehicles, theft from campsites and rumors of wendigos, a Canadian story of people turned into devils who live in the high mountains Joe Pickett, on his last ride into the back country of the Baggs District runs into those challenges head on A great page turner with lots of action and suspense.

  8. Just put me down for ALL of CJ Box s books So very entertaining from beginning to end I enjoy the pull and push between Joe and Nate, both oh so settled in their opinions of right and wrong but both finding that maybe their best friend just might have a good idea or two that provides fodder for thought And I LOVE that their emotional make up is so far apart but yet, from the beginning, they remain steadfast friends And I like very much the many layers to the friendship or the many people involve [...]

  9. Like so many books in this series, all is not quite as it seems and identifying the good guys versus the bad guys becomes a very grey area with regard to who is who C J Box really does make you look into political corruption money talks with this one I really love this series and am voraciously reading them one after another I will be bereft when I get to the end.

  10. What can I say about C.J Box and Joe Picket that I haven t said before Nowhere to Run is No 10 in the Joe Picket series and it totally knocks your boots off We have watched Joe Picket change over the years from an honest upstanding game warden who would rather cut off his right arm than break the law to become an honest upstanding game warden who has had to kill people in the line of duty He has become hardened and with that hardening comes conflicts of conscience as he struggles with doing the [...]
