  1. I love Egyptian mythology and I really enjoyed both the Percy Jackson and Apollo books and I even thought Magnus was okay despite just being a rehash so wow, let me tell you how disappointing this book was A book I bought day one when it came out years ago.Honestly, I would put money down on Riordan having written the outline of this book and then an inexperienced, teenager coming in and ghostwriting the rest The book reads like the author has no idea what is going on either and a lot of the det [...]

  2. This review contains some spoilers This trilogy begins with The Red Pyramid The main characters, Carter and Sadie Kane are brother and sister, but have not been raised in the traditional sense Since the death of their mother, Sadie has been living with her grandparents, her mother s parents, in London, attending traditional schools and living a normal life Carter has been home schooled and traveling the world with their father, Dr Julius Kane, a famed Egyptologist Twice a year, Dr Kane is allowe [...]

  3. Exciting Fun History This book is greatthe story is fun and fast paced My kids loved it and so did I As a parent, I really loved it because my kids learned Egyptian history and mythology without knowing itand so did I I found myself constantly looking up different things about Ancient Egypt on while reading this book I followed up this up with a trip to the Ancient Egypt section of the Field Museum in Chicago it really made the museum come alive While certainly not a textbook, there was enough h [...]

  4. I started the book A black guy had a blond, blue eyed wife and they had two kids Fine Not far into the book the father is teaching his son why he should dress better He said to the son, Carter, you re getting older You re an African American man People will judge you harshly Whoa Because the kid is of African descent he will be judged harshly By who I quit reading and told all 4 of my white children and 10 MOSTLY WHITE grands not to read Riordan s book.

  5. As an adult I must say I found the two view points of the protagonists annoying Nope I just found Sadie Kane annoying But what entranced me even is Riordan ability to keep the story on point and entertaining whilst balancing two different personalities I am still in awe as a writer Outside that the in depth look and facts about ancient Egypt was beautiful to read and learn about whilst engaging in a story all on its own.Looking forward to book 2

  6. If you loved Percy Jackson, I m sure you will like this Set in seemingly the same world as Percy is there is a reference to different gods living on the other side of the river this is the story of Sadie and Carter brother and sister who come to realise they are not just ordinary children, but are part of the ancient civilisation of Egypt gods, magicians and all Once again, there are thrills and spills, plot twists and lots of he s the bad guy, no wait, HE S the bad guy I had just come from read [...]
