  1. This is one of Nora Robert s older suspense novels They are not for the faint of heart There is a darkness and grittiness that is not as prevalent in her later works and is closer to the earlier Eve Dallas books written by Robert under her pseudonym, J D Robb.As always, excellent imagery It is dark and foreboding, and you can feel the evil lurking underneath the smalltown normal events Kept me up late to finish it and this is not my first time reading it I have an old paperback copy that I bough [...]

  2. I generally love Nora Roberts and her alter ego J D Robbthis on the other hand I m not sure how to describe and I really didn t much like the book It was hard to like the Female lead, she was a bit too much of a whiner and the male lead was good and probably better developed but it was really hard to buy into him as a hero until the very end This story is Dark, dreary, full of both adult and adolescent angst and the writing drug many times It was wildly leading several goose chases, that sort of [...]

  3. This book is old 1992 and shows its age in places but remains, overall, fairly evergreen I d call it Ms Roberts first real suspense there s a relationship in the book and it s important, but the reader is truly driven by the suspense plot I found this book disturbing, dark, and creepy as hell and a page turner.

  4. This book makes you see there is pure evil in this world The charters were really well created and written The end threw me for a loop though I didn t see that coming Great read as usual for Nora though.

  5. Excellent job of entangling the town and the countryside in devil worship This book was hard to read and to believe that things like this does happen But even they made the mistake of believing they could have everything they wanted and to do so by actually sacrificing human beings No Not sacrificing MURDERING.

  6. This book was full of evil It was full of innocence It was quite disturbing to read of the evil It made you shudder to think anyone would even want to get started in such evil The innocent people they hurt I m glad that good won the day, but the last paragraph left me hanging and sick A thriller for sure.

  7. I love reading Nora Roberts books but do not like stories on Satanism I could not wait to come to the end Mysteries are favored by me but the last couple Roberts books I ve read had an abundant amount of explicit sex which really is not necessary I could read Danielle Steele for that.

  8. Excellent story of the occult, with the main towns elders and older family members being in the occult, and not revealing themselves until the time is right Also shows great adaption of using everything by Law Enforcement personnel including reaching out to a mentally challenged person Developing trust between the Sheriff and the mentally challenged person is touching and presented well.

  9. Nora Roberts writes in many genres from enjoyable romances, through some with a fantasy edge and others which are pure crime thrillers to what I see as romance thrillers This book falls in the last category Like many of her books it is somewhat dark but if you know the author you can expect this and the synopsis generally warns you There are many recurrent themes in her books , as might be expected with so many books to her credit, and that is certainly true here But still an interesting read In [...]

  10. I always enjoy Nora Roberts storytelling This was a little darker than usual, being about satanism and sacrifice The ending was too abrupt for me, I was looking for an epilogue to tie up the loose ends I liked Cam and Clare but I wanted to know what happened to them as a couple I also felt the baddie should ve been exposed But it was a satisfying read, as ever.
