  1. Another exciting book from a very prolific writer, this one in the black hills of South Dakota on the land that used to belong to the great Sue Nation Indians. The setting is a couple of young children on fairly large farm and ranches As the kids grow up they begin having feelings for one another and develop a relationship that wanes after the male decides to go to New York to attend the Police Academy, while the female goes to college to become a Doctor in animal care with a specialty in large c [...]

  2. Nora Roberts simply takes me out of my life and sets me smack dab in the middle of a romantic suspense This time around it is South Dakota and a wild animal refuge and a wildlife biologist and a horse wrangler former NYC cop and a psychopathic killer Lots of suspense, just the right amount of romance and intelligent characters Well done, again.

  3. I seriously read this is less than 3 days Great story line I personally love stories that intertwine with animals and this was a beautiful representation of just that Of course there is a level of romance in her books, and I thought this one had just enough to not pull focus away from the main objective The story was all about sex and that was a nice change from other popular authors The ending was just awesome and legitimately gave me goose bumps and almost brought me to tears Great, great stor [...]

  4. It s so awesome when an author can describe a place so well you believe you are there I ve been to the Black Hills numerous times, it was all written perfection in this book Made me wish I was back there I m normally not a fan of 2nd chance type books, but this is Nora Roberts we are talking about, so I was like what the heck And I m so glad I did Lil and Coop s story was just magnificent.

  5. I have been a reader of Nora Roberts books for thirty years Is that even possible I haven t been reading many books for a few years, while my career was very busy and I didn t have time to read anything but science journals and embryologist protocols and such I ve retired from my IVF career and found that I really missed reading these incredible tales and this one kept me turning page after page I may be reading on a Kindle now, but the sentiment is still the same This is a page turner I am real [...]

  6. Lil achieved her dream of having a wildlife refuge She put everything she had into it All the animals there had either been owned by people who no longer wanted them, mistreated them, or were orphaned Her pet was a cougar called Baby She had tried to release Baby back into the wild three times with his orphaned siblings once they were old enough Baby always came back Baby loved Lil Many deaths were turning up in the Black Hills Not discovered until Lil s old boyfriend and old lover, Coop realize [...]

  7. The black hills of South Dakota is experiencing a killer Not the four legged kind, but two legs and at the top of the food chain The story starts with a young boy sent to his grandparents farm People he didn t know Friendships, love, family, second chances, proving ones self, life and death It s all there in a story that keeps your mind going So very hard to put done Highly recommend

  8. I like most stories that contain a thread within it of dogs, particularly rescue dogs, so I did like this book I m a relatively new reader of Nora Roberts books and I ve found the majority I ve read perhaps I ve just been unlucky to be pretty average if not poor Also, a number of her storylines seem to repeat themselves with just the names locations changed However, this read as an original and fresh story with a good mix of humour, intrigue and romance.

  9. As ever, Nora Roberts creates a thoroughly researched background for this novel The conservation of big cats is not a well known area but the detail and description certainly provide the characters with the basis of the story Handsome male lead, interesting secondary family and friends and of course a deeply disturbed and disturbing villain everything you need to dive into a classic Roberts story.
