  1. Book is a wholesome, young adult or maybe younger adventure novel of a young boy who is unsure of his identity finding a place in the world and feeling special In other words, it is about what lots of these young adult books are about However, in this instance, it plays out in a sort of medieval setting where there are castles, horses, kings, etc The only sort of magical aspect to the book is the appearance of a few monsters So no sorcery here.It is a kid s book, so the issues the main character [...]

  2. I first read this book about 7 or 8 years ago even though it was a Young Adult title when I was in my late 40s In fact, I bought the actual book not the e book it was that long ago The only regret I had about buying it is that it meant I was going to be devoting a lot of my spare time to the reading of the rest of this series.I even recommended the book to one of my co workers at the time, a 50 year old former Marine who also thought it was fantastic So do not be fooled by its Young Adult catego [...]

  3. I bought this for my 11 year old I read through it first to make sure it was appropriate and not too scary I felt it was perfect for middle school aged kids Has excitement and some hairy parts but nothing that will keep them up at night There are plenty of teenage kid issues going on that they can relate to also. The author did a good job setting up the book for a long series, it answers just enough to keep you happy but leaves you wanting to find out what happens as the series continues It wasn [...]

  4. I have read the series a couple times and the first books of the series multiple times This book would have worked as a standalone quite easily The unique and interesting take on the medieval fantasy separates itself from other books of its kind While there is no magic there is mystery and terrifying creatures for our hero s to face There s also great character development and the feeling that the world is much bigger than what is shown I believe the narrative is set in third person omniscient a [...]

  5. I ll premise this with being an avid reader of young adult and adult fantasy sci fi novels I immediately loved the premise of this book and jumped right in expecting to be delivered into a gripping story of fantasy and adventure I love books about stealth bow type characters and love playing them in games. That s not what I got though Instead the characters were stereotypical, shallow and just didn t click with me at all, which was jarring On top of this, the book feels overly bloated with descri [...]

  6. Hi I m Oscar and I m twelve and I ve started doing book reviews for all the books I read This book is aimed at 9 to 10 year olds and is a very exiting book, a real page turner that gets you into the book so that you seem to be there, standing next to the characters an seing whats going on Not to mention funny, this book is a must read.
